Marta Debolini è senior scientist presso l'Istituto per la Resilienza Climatica (ICR) del CMCC e Direttrice della Divisione IAFES dell'Istituto, che si occupa dell'analisi degli impatti dei cambiamenti climatici su agricoltura, foreste e servizi ecosistemici. Si occupa principalmente di analisi delle dinamiche spazio-temporali dei sistemi agricoli, cambiamenti di uso del suolo, analisi dei servizi ecosistemici relativi agli agro-ecosistemi e adattamento dei sistemi agricoli ai cambiamenti climatici, in particolare per quanto riguarda l'uso delle risorse idriche e pratiche agroecologiche. Si è dottorata presso l'Istituto di Scienze della Vita della Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (Pisa, Italia) nel dicembre 2010 con una tesi su “Dinamiche agricole e conservazione del suolo nei paesaggi rurali mediterranei”. Nel 2011 ha ricevuto il premio di ricerca conferito dal Fondo Globale per l'Ambiente e la Risoluzione dei Conflitti presso la Columbia University (NY) per il progetto “Land management and land use conflict resolution in peri-urban areas: a geo-agronomic perspective”. Dal 2012 al 2022 è stata ricercatrice confermata presso l'INRAE (Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Francese su Agricoltura e Ambiente), ed è senior scientist del CMCC dal 2023. È membro del MEDECC - Mediterranean Experts on Climate and Environmental Changes, dove ha co-diretto il capitolo sulle soluzioni di adattamento e mitigazione per il rapporto pubblicato nel 2024 su Nexus Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems.

Marta Debolini is senior scientist at the Climate Resilience Institute (ICR) of the CMCC and Director of the IAFES Division of the Institute, which deals with the analysis of climate change impacts on agriculture, forests and ecosystem services. She is mainly involved in the analysis of spatio-temporal dynamics of agricultural systems, land-use change, analysis of ecosystem services related to agro-ecosystems and adaptation of agricultural systems to climate change, in particular water use and agro-ecological practices. She obtained her doctorate at the Institute of Life Sciences of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (Pisa, Italy) in December 2010 with a thesis on ‘Agricultural dynamics and soil conservation in Mediterranean rural landscapes’. In 2011, she received a research award from the Global Environment and Conflict Resolution Fund at Columbia University (NY) for the project ‘Land management and land use conflict resolution in peri-urban areas: a geo-agronomic perspective’. She was a confirmed researcher at INRAE (French National Research Institute on Agriculture and Environment) from 2012 to 2022, and has been a senior scientist at CMCC since 2023. She is a member of MEDECC - Mediterranean Experts on Climate and Environmental Changes, where she co-chaired the chapter on adaptation and mitigation solutions for the report published in 2024 in Nexus Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems.
